Specialty Teams / Task Forces

The McCook Police Department participates in many different task forces which provide resources and additional manpower on significant or larger-scale incidents.  Currently the McCook Police Department allocates officers when needed/available to the following task forces/specialty teams:

-Major Case Assistance Team (MCAT) - MCAT is a multi-jurisdictional task force consisting of officers from 13 area police departments. The Team consists of many components, which McCook participates in the following:

Major Case Team
Drone Team
Accident Reconstruction
Forensics
Event Planning
PIO
Tactical Team (ATAC)
Incident Command

     - Fifth District SWAT -  This unit is comprised of members from participating police departments all of whom must belong to the Fifth Municipal District of the Circuit Court of Cook County.  Members of the unit are highly trained police officers who are specifically trained to respond to High Risk situations, barricaded subjects, search and/or arrest warrants, etc.

-Suburban Major Accident Reconstruction Team (SMART)  - SMART is a multi-agency accident investigation team made up of accident investigators from surrounding south-suburban police departments.  This group of accident investigators assist the McCook Police Department with the investigation of major accidents, including fatalities, in the Village of McCook.

-Northern Illinois Police Alarm System (NIPAS) Mobile Field Force (MFF) -  The NIPAS Mobile Field Force was created to maximize the effectiveness of initial response efforts by police when a major civil disturbance occurs.  Civil disturbances, union conflicts, public demonstrations, and other events involving large or disorderly crowds require skillful response by police agencies.

-McCook Police Department Truck Enforcement Unit -  Commercial trucking is a large business in McCook and the suburban Chicago area.  The Truck Enforcement Unit exists to provide safe passage through McCook for all motor vehicle traffic as they share the roads with larger and heavier commercial vehicles.
