Investigations Unit

The McCook Police Department assigns trained officers to carry out the duties of an investigator when the need arises. Currently, two members are assigned to the investigations unit. The unit investigates all types of crimes that may occur in the Village of McCook. The officers receive additional training in many areas to make them well-rounded and knowledgeable investigators.

The officer who takes the initial report will do as much as possible prior to forwarding the case to the Investigations Unit. Once the unit receives the report, the case is assigned to an investigator who will remain with that case until it is closed. For more complex cases, two or more investigators may work on the case until all leads are exhausted or an offender is apprehended.

If you have specific questions in regards to a current or past case, you may call the McCook Police Department and ask for the Investigation Unit, or if you need immediate assistance contact / email DC DeLeshe.

Village of McCook Celebrates 100 Years!

Picture
As the Village of McCook celebrates its 100-year anniversary in 2026, we pause to look back with pride and gratitude on a century that began in 1926 with a small community and a big sense of purpose. From its early days of modest homes, local businesses, and familiar faces, McCook has grown and changed in countless ways — yet the spirit of neighbor helping neighbor has never faded. Through generations of families, milestones, and memories, the Village has remained a place where tradition matters, service is valued, and community comes first. This centennial is not just a celebration of time passed, but of the people and stories that have shaped McCook into what it is today.

Live 911

WC3 is proud to announce that it is currently in the process of implementing Live 911 technology for all four of its police agencies. This advanced system will allow officers in the field to hear 911 calls in real time as they are being received by dispatchers.

By providing immediate access to critical information, officers will have a better understanding of situations while they are        enroute, allowing them to prepare and respond more effectively. This rapid flow of information can significantly reduce response times and improve coordination during emergencies.

Live 911 represents an important step forward in public safety technology. By giving officers the ability to hear calls as they happen, WC3 is enhancing situational awareness, strengthening officer preparedness, and ultimately helping deliver faster, potentially life-saving responses to those in need. 🚓📞🚨

Our Dispatch Center...

West Central Consolidated Communications Center (WC3) continues to look toward the future as they strengthen their commitment to public safety and emergency response. Recognizing the need for reliable communication and modern technology, WC3 recently enhanced its services through the purchase of new radio consoles and the implementation of a cloud-based 911 system.

The new radio consoles provide dispatchers with clearer, faster, and more reliable communication with first responders in the field. Whether coordinating fire, police, or emergency medical services, the upgraded system allows dispatchers to manage calls more efficiently and maintain seamless communication during critical incidents.

In addition, WC3 has moved toward a cloud-based 911 platform. This advanced system increases reliability and redundancy, ensuring that emergency calls can still be answered and dispatched even if a local system outage occurs. The cloud technology also improves call routing, location accuracy, and overall system flexibility, helping dispatchers get the right help to the right place faster.

These improvements represent WC3’s ongoing commitment to modernization and preparedness. By investing in advanced communication tools and resilient technology, WC3 continues to enhance its ability to serve the community, support first responders, and ensure that when residents dial 911, help is always just moments away. 🚑📡🚒

Buckle Up! McCook Police Department — Traffic Safety

Traffic Safety Reminder

Drive Safe. Buckle Up.

The McCook Police Department would like to remind everyone to drive safe and make sure you buckle up! Wearing your seatbelt is one of the simplest and most effective things you can do to protect yourself and everyone in your vehicle.

Official Safety Campaign

NHTSA 2023 / 2024 Safety Campaigns

McCook officers are participating in the U.S. Department of Transportation's National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Safety Campaigns — a nationwide effort to reduce traffic fatalities and serious injuries on our roads.

Buckle Up

Make sure you and all passengers are properly restrained every time you get in a vehicle — no exceptions. Seatbelts save lives.

Drive Sober

If you consume alcohol, pick a designated driver. Impaired driving is dangerous, illegal, and entirely preventable.

Additional officers will be patrolling during campaign periods, actively looking for motorists who are not buckled up and those operating a vehicle under the influence. Enforcement is increased — please do your part to keep our roads safe.

"Every trip, every seat, every time — buckle up and drive sober. Your life and the lives of others depend on it."
