McCook Police Department Awarded $15,586 Grant from ILEAS for Taser 10 Units
McCook, February 3, 2025, The McCook Police Department is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a grant in the amount of $15,586 from the Illinois Law Enforcement Alarm System (ILEAS). This funding will be used to purchase five state-of-the-art Taser 10 units, enhancing officer safety and providing an additional tool for de-escalation in critical situations.
The new Taser 10 units represent the latest in non-lethal force technology, allowing officers to effectively manage confrontations while prioritizing public and officer safety. This grant underscores the commitment of both ILEAS and the McCook Police Department to ensuring the best resources are available for law enforcement professionals serving our community.
We are grateful to ILEAS for their continued support in equipping our officers with advanced tools that help us safely and effectively carry out our mission, said Jeremy Carr, Chief of the McCook Police Department. The McCook Police Department would like to remind everyone to drive safe and make sure you buckle up!
McCook officers will be participating in the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highways Traffic Safety Administration’s 2023/2024 Safety Campaigns.
Additional officers will be patrolling, looking for those who are not “Buckled Up” and driving Sober! Please make sure you and all passengers are properly restrained and pick a designated driver if you consume alcohol.
