The McCook Police Department assigns trained officers to carry out the duties of an investigator when the need arises. Currently, four members are assigned to the investigations unit, one Sergeant and three officers.
The unit investigates all types of crimes that may occur in the Village of McCook. The officers receive additional training in many areas to make them well-rounded and knowledgeable investigators.
The officer who takes the initial report will do as much as possible prior to forwarding the case to the Investigations Unit. Once the unit receives the report, the supervisor assigns the case to an investigator who will remain with that case until it is closed. For more complex cases two or more investigators may work on the case until all leads are exhausted or an offender is apprehended.
If you have specific questions in regards to a current or past case, you may call the McCook Police Department and ask for the Sergeant of the Investigation Unit, or click the link to email the Investigation Unit Sergeant.
